Career Preparation Center Students Win Gold at SkillsUSA State Competition
Students from the Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center have received a Gold Medal in the Welding Fabrication team event at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference.
SkillsUSA is a national career and technical student organization (CTSO) that provides opportunities for students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled occupations.
Three students, Rowan Wilson from Eaton Rapids, Will Leisenring from Grand Ledge and Connor Woodcock from Eaton Rapids worked together on this team event to take home the Gold Medal at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference which was held last month in Grand Rapids.
Rowan, Will and Connor are also part of the Capital Region Technical Early College (CRTEC) which is a program in which students remain enrolled in their school districts for a 13th year to continue their coursework at a post-secondary organization, in this case, Lansing Community College.
Additionally, Austin Neely, a student in the Welding Technology program was elected to serve as a SkillsUSA State Vice President during his senior year.
“Congratulations to Rowan, Will, Connor and Austin, as well as other students who participated in the SkillsUSA Leadership Conference,” said Mike Reynolds, Principal of the Career Preparation Center. “Students have continued to showcase their tremendous work ethic and leadership skills through this opportunity.”
