Eaton RESA Announces Board of Education Openings
Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) will be holding its biennial board member election on Monday, June 3, 2019.
Three six-year terms on the RESA Board are up for election this year. The terms begin on July 1, 2019 and end on June 30, 2025.
Persons interested in running for an Eaton RESA board seat must be at least 18 years of age, a registered voter, and a resident within one of the 5 local constituent districts. Interested candidates have a choice of either:
- Filing nomination petitions with a minimum of 40 (maximum 100) valid voter signatures of residents within the Eaton RESA service area or
- Paying a $100 nonrefundable filing fee.
A completed Affidavit of Identity is due at the time of filing. The deadline to submit petitions or to pay the filing fee and submit the required affidavit is May 6, 2019.
Petitions or the filing fee must be submitted directly to the Eaton County Clerk’s Office, located in the Eaton County Courthouse, 1045 Independence Boulevard, Charlotte, MI 48813. The nomination petitions and affidavits of identify may be obtained from the Clerk’s Office or from the Eaton RESA Superintendent’s Office 1790 East Packard Highway, Charlotte, MI 48813.
Eaton RESA’s board members are elected by the local district boards of education which include the following districts: Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Grand Ledge, Maple Valley, and Potterville. Representatives from these local districts will convene at the June 3 election to cast votes which reflect resolutions passed by their boards of education for candidates running for the Eaton RESA board.
