New Eaton RESA Superintendent Selected as Dr. Sean Williams Retires

Charlotte, MI- Dr. Sean Williams, Superintendent at Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) has announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2026. Dr. Williams has dedicated 27 years to public education serving in Holt, Stockbridge, the Office of K-12 Outreach at MSU, Ingham ISD and Eaton RESA. 

Denise DuFort, Eaton RESA Board President shares, “We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Williams innovative and entrepreneurial leadership. He has consistently tested the boundaries of our education system at the local and state level, while always keeping students and families at the center of his decision-making. He has transformed Eaton RESA, and we wish him the best in his retirement.” 

Eaton RESA’s Board of Education has selected Dr. Nate Leale to succeed Dr. Williams in the role of Superintendent. Succession planning is essential for developing leaders from within a high-functioning organization, ensuring consistency for stakeholders and continuity in advancing the organization’s mission and vision. Dr. Leale will step into the Deputy Superintendent on March 23, 2026, to oversee all instructional areas as part of his transition plan to the Superintendent role on January 1, 2027. Dr. Williams and Dr. Leale will be working closely together over the next several months to ensure programs and services remain consistent and uninterrupted.

Dr. Williams shared, “Serving in this role has been the greatest professional honor of my career. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside an exceptional Board, dedicated staff, committed local district leaders, and valued community partners. Dr. Leale is an exceptional leader, and I am looking forward to working with him over the next several months to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition.”

Dr. Leale earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Michigan State University and has served as Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services at Eaton RESA since October 2021. In this role, he has led countywide efforts focused on instructional improvement and professional learning, working in partnership with local districts as well as regional and state organizations. Through these partnerships, his leadership focuses on improving outcomes for students and educators. 

Prior to joining Eaton RESA, Dr. Leale served in building and district leadership roles within Potterville Public Schools, where he led key initiatives, oversaw programs and resources, and supported the implementation of effective instructional and organizational practices.

Dr. Leale will officially assume the role of Superintendent of Eaton RESA on January 1, 2027.
