Families in Eaton County are invited to FREE Community Playgroups designed for children and infants from birth through 5 years old, along with their siblings. These fun and engaging playgroups will be held in Grand Ledge, Maple Valley and Eaton Rapids. Please see the complete list of playgroups and locations.

Each playgroup offers a welcoming space for families to connect while children enjoy stories, movement activities, art, social interaction and plenty of play. Parents and caregivers must remain with their children at all times, and each child will receive a free book to take home.

Charlotte, MI — Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) has been awarded a $116,917 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) MiSTEM Network to expand hands-on STEM experiences for K-12 students across the county.

The funding, which is part of the MEDC Talent Action Team (TAT)-championed PreK-12 Strategic Investments in STEM Career Exposure initiative, will enhance Eaton RESA’s Mobile Fabrication Lab and Mobile Garage Lab, bringing advanced technology and real-world industry applications directly to local elementary and middle schools. The goal is to immerse students in Michigan’s high-demand career sectors, including electric vehicle (EV) and mobility, semiconductor manufacturing, and other STEM-focused industries.

NOTICE: A public meeting of the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency Board of Education will be held on October 15, 2025 at Eaton RESA, 1790 Packard Hwy Charlotte at 6p.m. at which the Board will consider a petition to transfer a parcel of property at 7000 Johnson Road, Potterville, Parcel No. 070-002-300-100-00, more specifically described as E ½ of S 330 ft. of W½ of SW ¼, Sec. 2, T3N, R4W, Benton Twsp 1988, from Charlotte Public Schools to Potterville Public Schools pursuant to sections 951 to 976 of the Michigan Revised School Code, MCL 380.951 et seq.

The Capital Region Learning Group (CRLG) recently held its annual in-person meeting, hosted by Eaton RESA. Unlike the typical virtual gatherings, this event gave members a chance to connect face-to-face in a mini-expo format.

Instead of sitting behind screens, participants walked around, visited “vendor tables,” picked up materials, and held one-on-one conversations tailored to their organization’s needs. The event created opportunities to share resources, spark new ideas, and strengthen partnerships that benefit learners and families across the region.

The IGNITE Teacher Network welcomed new and early career teachers from Eaton Rapids, Potterville, Charlotte and Grand Ledge to Eaton RESA on Friday, August 8. The session, “Ready, Set, Teach: Tips, tricks, and peace of mind that you are NOT the only one with first day jitters!”, gave teachers the chance to network, learn and share ideas for starting the school year strong.
