LANSING, Mich. – Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential today announced that Michigan’s Great Start Readiness Program, the state’s main PreK for All program, again achieved top marks for quality.
This summer, Michigan families can get extra help buying groceries through the SUN Bucks program. Each eligible school-aged child will receive $120 to spend on food during the summer months. Your child may be eligible if they are between 6 and 18 years old and receive SNAP (food benefits), TANF (cash assistance), or Medicaid with income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.

Charlotte, MI - During the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, district officials announced upcoming biennial board member elections for three, six year terms. The election will take place on Monday, June 2, 2025, in the Board Room at the Eaton RESA main office, 1790 East Packard Highway, Charlotte, MI 48813.
Since 1974, the Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) has offered local high school students hands-on learning and career development through a variety of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and learning opportunities.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CPC, current students, alumni, instructors, employers, industry partners and CPC supporters are invited to an Anniversary Open House on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4 - 6 p.m. at Lansing Community College West Campus.
Graduating Students “Sign” with Employers for National Signing Day
This week, students from the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) Career
Preparation Center officially committed to full time positions with local employers as a part of National
Signing Day.
SkillsUSA and Klein Tools created National Signing Day as a way to celebrate high school
seniors who are dedicated to pursuing careers in the skilled trades.
Six seniors who are close to completing their programs through the Career Preparation Center were
celebrated alongside their future employers at this event. Alex Annis from Grand Ledge High School,
Brandon McGowan from Webberville High School and Jared Snyder from Fowler High School are
currently in the Heavy Equipment Repair program and have all officially accepted full time positions with
AIS Construction in Lansing; Zack Trouten from Eaton Rapids High School who is in the Welding 2
program accepted a position at Dowding Industries in Eaton Rapids; Aaron Thompson from Charlotte
High School who is in the Auto Technology 2 program accepted a position with Grand Ledge Ford; and
Andrew Baker from Potterville High School who is in the Welding 2 program accepted a position at
Cameron Tool in Lansing.
“National Signing Day is a great platform to showcase these high school students who have continued to
work hard in school and will be able to immediately enter the workforce after graduation. Participating
in career and technical education programs can give students access to opportunities that they would
never know otherwise,” said Mary-Ellen Brocklehurst, Student Services Coordinator at the Eaton RESA
Career Preparation Center. “We are so thankful that SkillsUSA and Klein Tools invited us to participate
and appreciate the support from employers and partners.”
