LANSING, Mich. – Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential today announced that Michigan’s Great Start Readiness Program, the state’s main PreK for All program, again achieved top marks for quality.
This summer, Michigan families can get extra help buying groceries through the SUN Bucks program. Each eligible school-aged child will receive $120 to spend on food during the summer months. Your child may be eligible if they are between 6 and 18 years old and receive SNAP (food benefits), TANF (cash assistance), or Medicaid with income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.

Charlotte, MI - During the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, district officials announced upcoming biennial board member elections for three, six year terms. The election will take place on Monday, June 2, 2025, in the Board Room at the Eaton RESA main office, 1790 East Packard Highway, Charlotte, MI 48813.
Since 1974, the Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC) has offered local high school students hands-on learning and career development through a variety of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and learning opportunities.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CPC, current students, alumni, instructors, employers, industry partners and CPC supporters are invited to an Anniversary Open House on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4 - 6 p.m. at Lansing Community College West Campus.
Eaton RESA Welcomes New Administrators
Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) has announced the recent hire of three new administrators to the team.
Each of the individuals bring a strong background in education to the RESA and are experts in their perspective fields.
Kathleen Szuminski is the new Assistant Superintendent for Career and Technical Education. Kathleen most recently served as Director of Career and Technical Education for Southwest Macomb Technical Education Consortium. Additionally, throughout her career, Kathleen has served as a business teacher, career center Principal and Assistant Principal, a middle school Principal and a professor of education at various colleges and universities. Kathleen received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University, her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University and her Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Georgia.
Kim Iverson joins Eaton RESA as a Related Services Supervisor and Special Education Director for Potterville Schools. Kim most recently worked with Calhoun ISD as a Special Education Administrator overseeing school psychologists, ASD consultants, behavior specialists and consultants for the visually impaired and deaf and hard of hearing. Prior to working in Special Education, Kim served as a classroom teacher and teacher consultant in Northern Michigan. Kim received her Bachelor of Science in Education and her Master of Arts in Special Education and Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. In 2015, she was one of four recipients in the State of Michigan for the Governor’s Excellence in Practice Award.
Amy Miller is a new Related Services Supervisor and Early On Supervisor at Eaton RESA. Amy most recently served as a Speech Language Pathologist at Ingham Intermediate School District. Additionally, Amy has experience working as a Speech Language Pathologist for Jackson County Intermediate School District, University of Michigan Health System, Detroit Medical Center and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Amy received her Bachelor of Arts in Audiology and Speech Science from Michigan State University, her Masters of Natural Science in Speech Language Pathology from Arizona State University as well as additional graduate work from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Grand Valley State University.
