Eaton RESA Launches CARES Collaborative with Area ISDs

Eaton RESA, Clinton County RESA, Ingham ISD, and Shiawassee RESD are partnering to launch the Capital Area Regional Education Strategy (CARES) Collaborative.

In addition, Hannah Sweeney has been named Director of Government Relations for the CARES Collaborative supporting the four organizations.

Eaton RESA Launches Rising Readers Early Literacy App

Just in time for March is Reading Month, Eaton RESA is excited to announce the launch of Eaton Rising Readers, powered by Footsteps2Brilliance (F2B), an evidence-based, interactive literacy platform for children from birth through third grade.

F2B uses games, songs and stories to build vocabulary, phonological awareness and comprehension skills that set children up for lifelong academic success.

The app is free for all Eaton County families and accessible on any smartphone, tablet or computer. It offers personalized learning pathways tailored to each child's development, and tools that keep caregivers and teachers connected to their child's progress.

New Eaton RESA Superintendent Selected as Dr. Sean Williams Retires

Charlotte, MI- Dr. Sean Williams, Superintendent at Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) has announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2026. Dr. Williams has dedicated 27 years to public education serving in Holt, Stockbridge, the Office of K-12 Outreach at MSU, Ingham ISD and Eaton RESA.

Denise DuFort, Eaton RESA Board President shares, “We are incredibly grateful for Dr. Williams innovative and entrepreneurial leadership. He has consistently tested the boundaries of our education system at the local and state level, while always keeping students and families at the center of his decision-making. He has transformed Eaton RESA, and we wish him the best in his retirement.”

Eaton RESA’s Board of Education has selected Dr. Nate Leale to succeed Dr. Williams in the role of Superintendent. Succession planning is essential for developing leaders from within a high-functioning organization, ensuring consistency for stakeholders and continuity in advancing the organization’s mission and vision. Dr. Leale will step into the Deputy Superintendent role on April 1, 2026, to oversee all instructional areas as part of his transition plan to the Superintendent role on January 1, 2027. Dr. Williams and Dr. Leale will be working closely together over the next several months to ensure programs and services remain consistent and uninterrupted.

Grant boosts Eaton County effort to teach manufacturing, trades to students

DELTA TWP. – Elementary school students in Eaton County have a special chance to get a look at the world of semiconductors and electric vehicles thanks to a nearly $117,000 grant from the state to the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency.

Eaton RESA's three mobile pathways labs bring career exploration options to thousands of students across the county.

Those include the Sky Lab, which is focused on aviation, featuring flight simulators and aviation engineering kits; the Fabrication Lab, dedicated to engineering manufacturing and fabrication jobs, which includes a 3D printer, drill press, and real welder; and The Garage Lab, which is focused on automotive trades, featuring tire changing stations, electrical circuit boards and a backhoe simulator, according to the district's website.

The grant will be dedicated to the fabrication and garage labs, said Sara Jobson, career pathways specialist for Eaton RESA.

Capital Region Learning Group Hosts Partner Expo

The Capital Region Learning Group (CRLG) recently held its annual in-person meeting, hosted by Eaton RESA. Unlike the typical virtual gatherings, this event gave members a chance to connect face-to-face in a mini-expo format.

Instead of sitting behind screens, participants walked around, visited “vendor tables,” picked up materials, and held one-on-one conversations tailored to their organization’s needs. The event created opportunities to share resources, spark new ideas, and strengthen partnerships that benefit learners and families across the region.

IGNITE Teacher Network Kicks Off New School Year

Middle School Students Explore Aviation

This summer, Eaton RESA hosted a four-day aviation camp at Capital Region International Airport that gave students in grades six through eight an unforgettable, sky-high experience!

From the very first day, students dove into the world of aviation, mastering the phonetic alphabet, learning how weather shapes flight, exploring the layers of the atmosphere and experimenting with aerodynamics using a wind tunnel. They tested their piloting skills on Redbird Flight Simulators, flew drones and discovered how medical factors affect flight crews.

3P Educational Leadership Network

In February, Eaton RESA launched the Mi-STEM Region 7 3P Educational Leadership Network with a two-day training led by Innovation and Programs Consultant, Sarah Felsing. Funded by a Mi-STEM grant, the training focused on Place-, Project-, and Problem-based learning with the goal of enhancing student access to student-centered, experiential learning. Teachers explored 3P essentials, collaborated on unit planning, and had an opportunity to source unit materials with grant funds.
