Eaton RESA pilots MI Bright Future throughout Eaton County

Eaton County students and employers will now be connected by a new partnership between Eaton RESA and the Workforce Intelligence Agency.

The two organizations will pilot MI Bright Future throughout Eaton County schools this year. Many Southeast Michigan districts are using MI Bright Future currently, but Eaton RESA is the only educational service agency in mid-Michigan to pilot this tool in all its middle and high schools.

MI Bright Future is an added feature to Career Cruising, which is an individualized student portal, currently utilized by students in grade 7 to 12, that helps them discover career options, build resumes, and create their career goals. Adding MI Bright Future to this existing database will provide students real-time engagement with local business and industry representatives in fields directly related to their individual career goals. Businesses will have a presence directly within the student portal and highlight themselves and the opportunities they have to offer to future employees. MI Bright Future essentially will create a direct connection and partnership with area schools, businesses and students to help foster future employment and a strong local talent pool.

“Eaton RESA has many opportunities already up and running for businesses to engage with students. These include: job shadows, mock interviews, committee membership and more,” said Cindy Anderson, Eaton RESA Superintendent. “We are also developing more structured ways for businesses to get involved with our youth. Our goal is to build the employer database so that businesses can engage with students in areas such as career coaching, classroom guest speaking, competitive judging, hosting of internships and potential long-term employment.”

Eaton RESA has been working with T3: Teach. Talent Thrive. and the Capital Area College Access Network on this initiative with the goal of expanding MI Bright Future to the tri-county region. Businesses that would like to learn more about MI Bright Future can register at http://mibrightfuture.org/. Individual professionals can also register to be a career coach.
