Autism Spectum Disorder Consultant
Eaton Regional Service Agency (ERESA) offers a range of services for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The main focus of the ASD program is to assist in the development through individualized educational teaming process. The ASD program maximizes learning opportunities through meaningful engagement and assists in the development of each individual student.
The professional staff and parents collaboratively work to maximize the child’s social, emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and communication skills through an environment that is designed to meet student’s needs.
In addition, the teacher consultant collaboratively works with general education teachers, special education teachers, service providers, and administrators in the local school districts. The goals for all students are to access the general education curriculum and develop functional and social competence in a developmentally appropriate experience based on the individual needs of the student.
ERESA is committed to using evidence based practices in working with students with ASD and maintaining the level of knowledge or research and effective practices. ERESA is also actively involved with Grand Valley State University (Statewide Autism Resources and Training Project (START), The Capital Regional Autism Network (CRAN), The Michigan Department of Education, and Michigan State University.
