Career Prep Center Students Partner with Toys for Tots
This holiday season, the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) Career Preparation Center is partnering with Toys for Tots to serve those in need. Students will be holding a toy drive beginning next week as well as volunteering their time at the Toys for Tots warehouse in December.
Tony Wieber, an instructor at the Career Preparation Center is a Marine who was injured while deployed. When he returned home, he began working with the Toys for Tots program throughout Lansing. With Tony’s leadership, the students and staff from the Career Preparation Center decided to jump into action to support the program by volunteering their time in assisting in the warehouse as well as holding a two-week long toy drive from Monday, November 27 – Friday, December 8.
Each student program will be donating one class period of time volunteering at the warehouse from Monday, December 4 – Thursday, December 14. The Toys for Tots warehouse is located within the Salvation Army Distribution Center, 3305 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Lansing.
“I have had the great pleasure of working with Toys for Tots for close to 10 years. Since I got involved, I saw firsthand how much work is involved each year. It takes tons of volunteers to donate, collect, pickup and deliver, sort and stage all of the donated toys. It makes perfect sense for our students to get involved in this great cause,” said Tony Wieber, Heavy Equipment Repair/Operator Instructor at Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center. “The Marine Corps is grateful to these students for their time and support during the busy holiday season to help those in need.”
